My paintings are a reflection of the memories and feelings I experienced during my childhood. my works are inspired by the culture, customs and traditions of Iraq where I grew up. The impressionistic and expressionistic colors and shapes are a transformation of my mind and longing for my family. Whereas my earlier paintings were focused on the social and human side of life, my more recent works express the negative effects of war on people, countries and the suffering it creates for humans. Mingling memories of former Iraq with my impression from current Europe is my creative driving force. My work resonates inner feelings and strong emotions that have exhausted me.
From a feeling of being lost, I try to find my way with hope, longing for home, dancing with joy and desire, despite the continuing sound of war.
